Colonel E.H. Taylor
Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. (February 12, 1830 – January 19, 1923) was a bourbon pioneer, mayor and state representative. As founding father of the bourbon industry, he left an indelible legacy. His dedication to distilling began at the close of the Civil War when he purchased O.F C. (Old Fashioned Copper) Distillery. There, he developed innovative techniques that are still in use today.
Today, the Buffalo Trace Distillery based in Franklin County, Kentucky and owned by the Sazerac Company have re-created this brand of straight bourbon whiskey named in honour of the historic distiller Col. Edmund Haynes Taylor.
