The Bakery Hill Distillery is located at 1/18-20 Gatwick Rd, North Bayswater Victoria 3153 – Australia and was established in 1999 by David Baker, a former food scientist. Bakery Hill Single Malt Whisky is an embodiment of the Australian Spirit. Its very name is synonymous with an uprising that helped define the nation’s character, The Eureka Stockade. Bakery Hill does not colour their whisky and uses only malted barley, yeast and water to achieve its flavour and aroma, and remains true to the authentic single malt, ‘single cask’ style. So be reassured, every bottle of Bakery Hill is made according to the finest traditions, with a hint of the early goldfields’ spirit.
Awarded the ‘Best Small Distillery of the Year’ by Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible 2005 and most recently awarded ‘Southern Hemisphere Whisky of the year’ in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2020 for their Peated Malt cask-strength expression.
Time, quality and popularity saw them outgrow their previous Bayswater location in Melbourne’s outer East, relocating to Kensington where they’ve built a state-of-the-art distillery and cellar door in a 500 square metre space with the help of a crowdfunding campaign that raised $700,000 in just nine days.
