Dobson’s Distillery (Eastview Estate) is located in the beautiful New England Highlands at 298 Kentucky Road, Kentucky NSW, about a 5 hour drive north of Sydney. The estate also consists of a winery, restaurant, brewery and speakeasy-style bar, but of course, been whisky addled marauders, we’re instantly attracted to the distillery and the magic juice been created.
Dobson’s Distillery is owned and operated by Stephen and Lyn Dobson who were driven by a lifetime love of whisky and gin. Through determination and hard work they’ve managed to create a line of whiskies with a sense of terroir, taking in the land that surrounds them. Just as a nuanced Hebridean whisky will trap the iodine and salt swept smells of the sea, so do Dobson’s whiskies reflect their place of distillation, destination and aging. Their single malt whiskey is made with 100% barley, are double and triple distilled, and made with grain from the Baird’s Inverness malt house in the sleepy town of Iverness. Their whiskies are representative of a developing New England Highland style with a Celtic-Irish influence. (Note their whiskey is spelt with an ‘e’)
We’re proud to throw are support behind another Aussie whiskey distillery and look forward to making a road trip out to the Eastview Estate sometime soon as we’ve heard that Stephen and Lyn are salt of the earth people who don’t suffer fools and have an addictive passion in everything they do. Something we can relate to in spades. ;)
