Tasmanian Heartwood Malt Whisky Pty Ltd is not a distillery but an independent bottler and brand, based in North Hobart – Tasmania, that is owned and operated by Tim Duckett who also owns the TIB brand (Tasmanian Independent Bottlers) and his new brand launched in 2024 called ‘Art of Darkness’ that sits nicely between his Heartwood and TIB lines.

Heartwood currently has 20,000 + litres of whisky stored in oak barrels ranging from 100 to 300 litres casks. Their whiskies originate from 15 different distilleries in Australia and New Zealand that produce 20 different new make spirits. Since Heartwood’s a passion project not motivated by market forces, they let the whisky decide when it’s ready to be bottled and released no matter what the age. The brands success has been well deserved and their cult like followers ensure Heartwood releases literally sell out before even making it to physical and virtual retail shelves.
