Old Young’s Distillery is located at 10581 W Swan Rd, Henley Brook Western Australia, 6055. It was formerly known as the Wild Swan distillery before been taken over by distiller, James Young and re-launched as Old Young’s. Old Young’s produces premium quality, hand crafted spirits by blending tradition and new techniques with a twist of unusual flair in the heart of the Swan Valley.
And although we enjoy their amazing, award-wining gin (especially in summer) – we love whisky more 😊, so it’s Old Young’s foray into whisky that has us chomping at the bit to chat about. Fittingly named The Journeyman and at 18 years old, it’s ‘arguably’ the oldest Australian whisky currently available on the market. The limited batch has travelled over 4000km from Sullivans’ Cove in Tasmania where it was distilled, to Victoria and finally settling in Perth.
Two variants of The Journeyman were produced – the cask-strength Black label that yielded just 99 bottles and sold out overnight at the distillery, and the White label at 46% that were both released to market just before Christmas in 2018.
