The Grove Distillery is located at 491 Metricup Rd, Willyabrup – Western Australia, smack bang in the middle of Margaret River Wine Region and was first opened in 1995 by Steven Hughes and his family. Steven first started producing wine, which the beautiful Margaret River is renowned for, and then diversified into spirit-based liqueurs before evolving into the first ever distillery in the Margaret River Wine Region.
The Grove have been successful in achieving a swag of both national and international awards for their top shelf spirits, organic absinthe and coconut rums (just to name a few), but been the whisky geeks that we are, we’ll be concentrating on the unique single-malt, single-grain (now there’s a conundrum in itself) whisky that Steven and his head distiller James Reed are producing. All their whisky is non-chill-filtered with no flavours or colour additives, allowing the full complexity of the spirit to shine through.
