Darkness is an independent bottler of single malt Scotch whisky that is part of the Atom Brands group who also bring us brands such as That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Bathtub Gin, Rumbullion, Aerolite Lyndsay, and the iconic retailer, Master of Malt. Darkness first started as a collection of single cask, sherry-finished expressions exclusively for Master of Malt but has now kicked on to include a continuous 8-year-old bottling including a selection of limited-edition and seasonal releases.

Every Darkness expression undertakes their signature secondary maturation of up to 6 months in sherried octave casks giving the whisky an unapparelled richness and depth of flavour. They have so far used a variety of sherry casks for finishing such as Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso, Moscatel, Manzanilla and Palo Cortado, chosen for their ability to enhance individual distillery characteristics.

From limited beginnings, Darkness is ramping up production to offer the consumer a plethora of choices from some of the great single malt and blending distilleries in Scotland (and Ireland to a lesser extent) and we’re looking forward to joining them for the ride.
