The Oban distillery was built in 1794 by brothers John and Hugh Stevenson at the Scottish West Coast Port of Oban. It’s one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland and is one of the last surviving urban distilleries sitting in the heart of Oban town and employing many locals.
Owned by Diageo, the distillery has only two pot stills making it one of the smallest in Scotland and produces a whisky that’s been described as having a ‘West Highland’ flavour that falls between the smoky, dry style of the Scottish islands and the sweeter more floral malts of the Highlands.
