The Whisky Sponge is an independent bottler founded in 2020 by freelance whisky writer and blogger, Angus MacRaild based in Fyfe, Scotland. Angus’s writing has become quite the legend in whisky circles with his love of satire, comedy and facetiousness shining through in his quirky whisky labels, eclectic tasting notes, humorous blogs and a refreshing take on an industry that often takes itself a little too seriously. A love of drinking whisky and scribing his thoughts has taken Angus all over the world resulting in place on the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s esteemed panel of tasters.
His knowledge gained and whisky nous inevitably led to independent bottlings, launching Decadent Drinks in partnership with Iain McClune, where he bottles his Whisky Sponge range along with a few other label series. As humorous and binge worthy Whisky Sponge’s visual labels and written notes are, it’s important to acknowledge that the liquid Angus is creating is damn delicious creating quite the cult following.
