Bomberger’s ‘Declaration’ Bourbon Whiskey is a relatively new product from Michter’s that
honours the legacy of the former distillery known as Bomberger’s in the 1800’s, that was later named Michter’s in the 20th century. Until Prohibition, Bomberger’s was the oldest operating distillery in the United States, and in many ways represented the transformation of whiskey distilling from an agricultural level to an industrial one.

This 2022 release of Bomberger’s yielded 1,234 bottles and is a flavourful 108 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey and a real celebration of American whiskey history. Although the mash bill and age of this expression is unknown, it’s believed to be somewhere above 10 years old with a portion of the spirit matured in Chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii). Chinquapin is a type of white oak native to central and eastern North America, a species of oak that imparts strong character.
