Shenk’s is a Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey made with a good deal of rye.
Unlike the 2019 release that yielded 2920 bottles, this 2020 release is truly small batch only yielding 955 bottles world-wide. While some Chinquapin Oak barrels were utilised in the maturation of the 2019 release, for this 2020 expression, the distillery opted to increase the proportion of whiskey that spent time in Chinquapin oak. The wood was naturally air dried for at least 3 years and the longer seasoning combined with Michter’s specialised toast and char allows the oak aromas to fully express themselves.
