Description
Shenk’s is a Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey made with a good deal of rye.
Following on from the success of the 2019 and 2020 releases where some Chinquapin Oak barrels were used during maturation, this 2021 release also includes the use of this oak. The wood has been naturally air-dried and seasoned for over 3 years and the Chinquapin oak has been charred at various levels for the ageing of some of the whiskey resulting in a balanced spirit with an elegant body and finish.
Chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii). Chinquapin is a type of white oak native to central and eastern North America, a species of oak that imparts strong character.
Australia’s 2021 allocation was even smaller that last years, so we’re limiting this expression to one bottle per customer.
