Description:
Straight Bourbon whiskey, aged for five years in 53-gallon American White Oak barrels, primarily toasted and charred to level 3. This release maintains the 4-grain mash bill, with an increase in the percentage of wheat.

The expression was bottled under the strict tenets of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. Aged in the temperate climate of the Northern California coast, the original distillate was altered only by the addition of pure water from the Russian River Valley aquifer. This bonded whiskey is the purest expression of Redwood Empire’s craft.

The team comments; “The name Grizzly Beast is a combination of two trees: The Grizzly Giant, a giant Sequoia located in Yosemite National Park that has over two billion leaves, and the Mattole Beast, a massive 375-foot coastal redwood located in Humboldt Redwoods State Park”.

The U.S. government passed the Bottled in Bond Act in 1897. The Bottled in Bond designation is only awarded to American whiskey aged at least 4 years, distilled during a single season at one distillery and bottled at 100 proof only. (50% alc)
