Official tasting notes.
An amber-gold whisky presents aromas of a strawberry Tarte Tatin drizzled in bitter orange liqueur, with hints of freshly dried hay and rose water. On the palate rich flavours of Anzac biscuits and brown sugar are highlighted by cranberries and Campari before mocha and burnt toffee linger on the finish.

Description:
Following on from Peter Bignell’s (sold out) Batch 4 Oat whisky that was released in May 2020 comes his Batch 5 Oat whisky, fresh off the barrel and bottled in April 2021. This whisky is a blend of 2 casks, one that previously held a Tasmanian Malt Whisky and the other a Tasmanian Pinot Noir.
The expression was created using oats with equal amounts of rye, barley and wheat. All the oats are grown, mashed, brewed and distilled at the distillery on Peter’s sprawling property and then left to barrel age on site. Non-chill filtered with no added colour, it’s a warm and creamy whisky that we like to describe as ‘Breakfast at Grandma’s’. 😉
Available in limited quantities.
About Belgrove Distillery
The Belgrove Distillery is the first Rye Distillery to open in Australia and is the only Australian self-sustaining distillery which is owned and operated by Peter Bignell. He applied his sculpting and engineering skills to build his own 700 litre copper pot still which he directly fires with biofuel (used cooking oil) from a roadhouse next to his farm.
