Following on from the sold-out, cask strength Black Gate 520s release comes this absolute whisky monster from the creative minds of Brian and Genise Hollingworth. It’s only their second cask strength expression and comes in at a head numbing 71.1%alc. 😊
Fittingly named the 620s because it’s a marriage of 6 x 20 litre casks filled with spirit that has been lightly smoked with peat, then milled, mashed, brewed, double-distilled and matured at the Black Gate distillery in Mendooran, NSW for just over 2 years. The whisky was then decanted from the casks and bottled with nothing added or removed making it a true cask strength expression.
With an exceptional nose, this full-bodied whisky is definitely not for the faint hearted!

NOSE: At 71.1% abv, we nose with caution and were rewarded with beautiful plumes of treacle, milk chocolate, cinnamon and distant smoke.
PALATE: Bold and sweet with brown sugar and mild chilli spice.
FINISH: Long and hot fading back to the treacle from the nose.
