Description:
We’re big fans of what Brian and Genise Hollingworth do at their Black Gate distillery.
Their whiskies are always big, robust and oily with lots of BG signature smoke. Now, they’ve just released their first ever Buffalo Trace, bourbon-cask Peated Whisky. The whisky was distilled in April 2018 and bottled in June 2021 at 57.8% ABV.

The distillery tells us: “This whisky showcases the flavour of the spirit due to the submissive nature of the bourbon cask”. Three ferocious Aussie summers and icy winters in Mendooran, NSW has resulted in a spirit forward, delicate flavour potation. It’s a new dawn for the distillery mostly known for their Port and Sherry smoke-bombs and we’re looking forward to being part of the next chapter in Black Gate’s journey as they branch out into new cask variations.
