People describe Australian whisky like we’re all in it together. There’s a feeling we have to be collegiate. But all whiskys are not the same. While there may be an Australian whisky industry, there is no such thing as an Australian whisky. There is only good whisky and ordinary whisky, made in Australia. Both good and bad…and ugly.
I say this after drinking exclusively Australian Whisky for almost a year. Let me say, Chief’s Son is good. Really good. It’s so good if proves the point. Some are selling Whisky. Some are selling “Australian” Whisky. If you have to rely too much on the postcard perfect view the barrel had in storage, or the back-story then you’ve missed the point. I highly recommend Chief’s Son. It’s a world class whisky – Made in Australia.
