Our tasting notes.
Sweet, savoury and incredibly delicate, this whisky is difficult to put in a box as it evolves beautifully in the glass. Aromas of freshly cut grass and damp soil dance side by side with scotch finger biscuits and sweet vanilla that are magically tempered by a soft smoke that weaves its way ‘through’ the flavours rather than ‘over’ them, resulting in a wonderfully balanced pour.

Bottling Notes
This whisky’s DNA comes from Riverbourne Distillery in Jingara NSW where Distiller Martin Pye is producing some very special peated, new-make spirit. Crafty purchased some of this spirit and matured it in his bond store at Capertee in a heavily charred, 100L American-oak bourbon single cask.
Crafty facetiously called this release ‘Grumpy Old Man on a Hill’ as a tribute to his good mate Martin Pye whom Crafty credits as one of his mentors in distilling. Cheeky, bold and smoky, this is a fun release that drinks dangerously well for its age.
