Our tasting notes:
Wow – Talk about a diamond in the rough – distilled in Launceston, forged by the chaotic seas of the Bass Strait. The salty profile of this earthy apera cask is sweet and savoury. Sherry undertones join the chorus line of delicate peat, dried fruits and white pepper. There’s smoked toffee on the back end with a long a juicy finish with grunt. No need to elaborate any further – The perfect ABV in the high 40’s that will appeal to beginners and aficionados alike – I think we’ve just found one of our favourite distilleries, hiding in plain sight!
Official tasting notes:
This whisky is all raisins and salted caramel. Amazing rich and dark profile of clove and toffee. Smoke profile is light and delicate, which balances nicely with the richness of a fortified cask. Quite a dense whisky with a heavy oak influence, as the liquid is allowed to breathe, and with a touch of water, it will change extremely, opening up more of the subtlety behind.
