Official tasting notes:
“Briney, warm savoury biscuits on the nose. Bright, but soft on the front palate with barley sugar and a light, melon-y note. Bold and sweet on the finish, earthy peat with hints of floral and medicinal notes. Beautifully balanced, light, salty and moreish”.

Description
A combination of Flinders Island coastal peated malt and Scottish peated malt makes up the mash bill in this inimitable whisky. The distillery’s new make was put into their only run of 50 litre American Oak ex Bourbon (Heaven Hill) casks, shaved, toasted and charred from the Tasmanian Cask Company. Maturation found her sweet spot at just over 3 years as the casks had plenty to give resulting in a youthful and smoky delight.
The Distillery comments.
“In this mash bill, we combined 50% Flinders Island peated Joe White pilsner malt with 50% Bairds heavily peated Scottish malt. The spirit was distilled at Furneaux Distillery on Flinders Island, with the second cut reaching a touch deeper than our unpeated runs to pull out the phenolic compounds, while still retaining a nice clean spirit”.
