Description:
Another Dregs, another sell-out at Heartwood during pre-orders. We thank the Whisky Overlord’s that Tim Duckett, owner of Heartwood sends a tidy allocation our way for our loyal supporters as well. Still unabashedly raw, we’re up to volume 6 now and the liquid seems to get bigger and bolder.
‘The Dregs’ Volume 6 is another cask strength vatted-malt whisky release that uses new-make from a mosh-pit of distilleries scattered around Tasmania aged in muscat, sherry, port and more with a little peat thrown in. As the name suggest, nothing is left to waste by Tim while indulging in his whisky alchemy and the Dregs contains completely unfiltered whisky (the best stuff 😉) mixed in with the good stuff. The pieces of sediment you see at the bottom of the bottle are actually small pieces of charcoal left in the vessel when bottling.
The label cheekily displays the letters C+H+O+OH+CH etc which refers to the base chemical elements that make ethanol/alcohol. Regarding the words “black art”, Tim Duckett comments; “Black art is where we throw the whisky together, in and out of temperature, keep tasting, wave a wand over it, paddle it some, even dance naked around a flame, then keep tasting it until it’s good”……….
Now that would be a sight for sore eyes! hehe
