It’s the smoky profile in this release that has us fascinated. The whisky weaves together Ben Nevis’s distinctive oily farmyard character with delicate wisps of Caol Ila’s coastal salinity. Then the lumbering structure of Oloroso goodness comes to the fore, parading through the palate with warming Christmas spices and plump, succulent raisin flesh.
The balance at 64.7% is a beautiful revelation. The evidence is in the glass: absolutely delicious, and utterly unforgettable.
