Another sell-out at the Heartwood distillery, ‘The Adult’ is a cask strength single-malt whisky release from the mind of owner, Tim Duckett.

The lightly peated ‘new make’ spirit that Tim chose to mature in his hand-picked Sherry cask comes from the Lark distillery and comes in at a super punchy 62.1% abv. It was originally a 300L sherry cask and Mr H cut the contents into thirds. 1/3 was bottled as the Heartwood ‘Toddler’, 1/3 was bottle as the Heartwood ‘Adolescent’ and then the final 3rd was left to age further and bottled to complete the trilogy as this ‘The Adult’ expression.

Don’t be alarmed if the whisky seems a little clouded with some sediment. This is called ‘Flocking’ and is a natural phenomenon that can occur in whisky that hasn’t been chill filtered. Chill filtering is often done to remove the sediment but also takes away from the natural flavour and viscosity of the whisky so many distilleries choose to leave the spirit in its natural form. It’s perfectly made for drinking. 😉

Heartwood releases rarely make it to physical or virtual liquor-shop shelves before they sell out as they’ve become highly collectable by a cult following of enthusiasts who appreciate the whisky magic made by the brand.
