Our tasting notes.
Tim Duckett has lobbed another colossal, sherry grenade and told nobody to run for cover – Heartwood fans ran towards the projectile instead and got sprayed in thick, fat sherry sap – rich, juicy dark fruits, sugar-plum nectar, black honey and plush oak – sweet and decadent till the very end and then the tail wags and it keeps going and going and going….. Give it a week and have another go, the Beast evolves like a good werewolf should, getting bigger, richer, yet more rounded with spice and depth. It’s a midnight pour, Saint Nicholas in a bottle – A sherried dream!

Bottling Notes
The ‘Beast is Back’ pays tribute in name to Heartwoods ‘Release the Beast’ expression that was released in 2012/2013. At 59.6% ABV, it’s slightly lower in ABV and was matured in a 100% pure sherry cask. as Tim Duckett explains….
“There are a total of 140 bottles at 59.6%. To answer a question, the slightly lower ABV is associated with decanting from the first 1st fill sherry barrel to a second 1st fill sherry barrel, as the initial spirit in the initial barrel started to take on tannin (horrible quality) at a very young age. Cured the problem and gave us a double dose of sherry. Those who do not like sherry, need not apply”.
Heartwood releases rarely make it to physical or virtual liquor-shop shelves before they sell out as they’ve become highly collectable by a cult following of enthusiasts who appreciate the whisky magic made by the brand.
