Hot off the sold-out ‘The Dregs’ Volume 3, comes the ‘Dregs’ Volume 4 – proof that you can never have too much of a good thing, and when it comes to Heartwood, you know you’re drinking and/or collecting only the best that Australia has to offer in independent whisky expressions. It’s another lightly peated cask strength vatted-malt bottled at 58% ABV with a yield of 86 bottles.
As the name suggest, nothing is left to waste by Tim Duckett (Mr H) while indulging in his whisky alchemy and the Dregs contains the whisky that didn’t go through the filter mixed in with the good stuff. The pieces of sediment you see at the bottom of the bottle are actually small pieces of charcoal left in the vessel when bottling.
In pure Tim fashion, the cask type and number is listed on the label as “Too many to mention”, but if you catch up with him during a virtual tasting or when the world goes back to normal, ask him about the cask composition and I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to chat. 😉
Tim Duckett comments….
“It’s a whisky that you sit with and analyse as it continually changes and changes and changes. Forget television, Zoom, and jigsaw puzzles, this is hours of entertainment in a glass”.
