The Toddler was distilled in April 2012 at Lark Distillery. The new-make spirit was then purchased by Mr H (Tim Duckett) and matured in a 300L sherry barrel at his bond warehouse in North Hobart, Tasmania. Bottled in 2016, it’s a four-year-old whisky, relatively young for a Heartwood, that delivers a peaty kick at 63.1% alc.
The name ‘The Toddler’ pays homage to the youthful whisky in the bottle and our own young whisky history in Australia.
Chatting with Tim about this bottle, he commented…..
“If a whisky is great at a young age, why wouldn’t you drink it? There are people who prefer the younger Toddler to my other big releases as it appeals to a range of palates, and the interesting thing is that you end up from the same base, producing 3 different types of whisky. It was an education process for us. Our whisky industry is only 28 years old compared to Scotland’s 400 years. When I tasted The Toddler, I thought, this is a good whisky, young, a great whisky, so I released it”
Too right Tim. 😉
This is our only bottle to sell.
