Official tasting notes.
Nose: Sea spray and salinity overlay a deeply sweet, honeyed presence. Hints of peat open up to warm leather and earthy smoke, while subtle notes of stone fruit play at the edges of this complex and enticing dram.
Palate: Sweet vanillin and lemon meringue pie initially envelop the palate, followed closely by a smoky and savoury hit. Fresh peach and nectarine present.
Finish: Great length and presence. Smoke and brine duet in harmony with honey and citrus accents.

Description:
Distilled from heavily peated Scottish barley back in 2004, this whisky has spent 19 years evolving in a single first-fill American Oak ex-Bourbon cask. Its journey has created a whisky that’s intensely smoky, decadently rich, and layered with remarkable depth – a true masterpiece from the distillery’s early days.
This release is one for the history books. As the oldest peated single malt ever released by an Australian distillery, it offers a sensory experience that’s as unique as it is rare. Only limited bottles are available in Australia, with the remainder sold in Europe. Each bottle is housed in a unique presentation box hand-crafted by local master wood worker Rob van Tholen from prized Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafras and Myrtle woods.
Interesting fact.
The team at Hellyers Road told us that this cask was the subject of intense lobbying by the distillery’s European export partner La Maison Du Whisky. To satisfy both them and local sales, the bottle allocation was split in two with half going to France and the other half (70 bottles) staying here in the local market.
