Our tasting notes
Nose: Rum raison chocolate straight off the bat, with coffee beans and ripe tobacco leaf dripping in vanilla custard and all spice.
Palate: Lots of heat on the palate that is neutralised by a silky, creamy sweetness that coats the mouth. The intensity is followed by delightful honey on toast, buttery toffee and tanned leather, with the very distant, subtle hint of sulphur.
Finish: Soft sugars and wood compliment a moderate and drying finish.

I’ve now had a trio of Joadja. The sweet Oloroso Sherry, the lemony bourbon cask 10 and this one, Oloroso finished in Bourbon, is juuuuuuuust right. You might be familiar with the Anthropic Principle or the Goldilocks enigma. A theory of why there’s life on earth. Only because all conditions for human life are just perfect. One small change and we couldn’t exist. Right distance from the sun…right amount of gravity, water…etc etc..We exist because all conditions are just right.. Well, Joadja Double Wood is the Cosmos in a bottle. Perfect balance. So sit back and relax Papa Bear, however hard the bed is tonight…you’ll be sleeping like a baby.

Really interesting coming back to the same Whisky and reviewing again. I’m a little biased as I’m already a big Joadja fan. This time I found it just as delightful, if a little sharp without water. this team I get some aniseed – closer to fennel with some ginger burn – with a dash of water though it smooths out to a wonderfully balanced drop. Confirmation bias – confirmed.

Was delicious, I really enjoyed the high abv that really complimented the flavour. Such strong pallet and with a drop of water brings out a smooth vanilla flavour that rolls down the throat. But I prefer no water and the flavour that is. Highly recommend
