Our Tasting Notes
Sampling this whisky straight from the cask was an absolute delight.
The striking rustic colour is matched with a nose full of cherry-ripe chocolate, raisons, cigar box aromas and zabaglione (Italian custard). The palate offers beautiful layers of complexity, chewy, sweet-and-sour, where flavours of oak and creamy custard from the nose meld with decadent dark chocolate and baked cinnamon, shortbread. The finish is rich and expansive , Old Kempton on another level – Just perfect.
Producer’s tasting notes.
Colour: Old Gold
Nose: Intense plum and brandied prunes. Hints of cherry juice and old leather plus rose petal potpuree
Palate: Opens sweet and creamy-thick then transforms across the palate to reveal bold oak tannins and finally a semi-dry and slightly savoury pork crackling element. Complex and beguiling.
Finish: Lingering sweetness but also some lovely oak tannins providing an eventual dry but wholly satisfying finish to the complex journey.
