Description
Here’s the 43% ABV little brother of the Cask Strength SD005 single malt from Overeem that was matured in a 100L bourbon cask. Not only has it been over 7 years since Overeem released their last 100L Bourbon cask matured whisky, this expression comes with one hell of a backstory as well.

Jane Overeem explains it best;
“….. in 2017 my husband Mark (Sawford) and I founded Sawford Distillery. Under the watchful eye of Dad (Casey Overeem), we hand-crafted spirit the only way we knew how…the Overeem way. But after just 3 years into full-time production of what would have become ‘Sawford Single Malt Whisky’, Mark and I were presented with the opportunity to acquire Overeem, due to a change in direction from the company’s new CEO. We excitedly accepted, officially taking Overeem back in June 2020. The look on Dad’s face when we told him of the news will be forever etched into my memory!

Today we are celebrating the release of the first casks that Mark and I laid down in 2017. These casks have stayed true to the Overeem philosophy – from recipe, to production, to maturation and bottling. Casey’s legacy… Included in these ‘first releases’ are 100 litre ‘Bourbon Cask Matured’ Single Cask, Single Malt Whisky at both Distillers Strength (43%abv) and Cask Strength (60%abv).

This is a very special occasion for both Mark and I, and Overeem Distillery’s history. The torch has now been officially handed to the second generation, and our intention is crystal clear – to continue to honour the legacy and principles upon which this distillery was founded.
