New South Wales newest distillery, Riverbourne Distillery has just releasing their first two whiskies (May 2018) and if first impressions are anything to go by, owner and distiller Martin Pye is on a winner. Founded in 2015, Riverbourne Distillery is a boutique distillery based in Jingera, New South Wales. Martin runs a one man show, mashing, fermenting, distilling and ageing his range of boutique whiskies with the utmost attention to detail.
His first peated expression is this Riverbourne Supremacy single malt whisky which was made using imported Scottish barley and then matured in an American Oak cask (number 9) and bottled at 57%alc. The strongly peated whisky is well balanced and expressive.

Red fruits are present on the nose as is a pleasant peat aroma, and vanilla is expressive as is dry oak.
On the palate it is toasty on the tongue, fruity with mild citrus. Floral characters are present and the peat does not dominate the aftertaste excessively.
