Official tasting notes
A rich selection of dried fruit spice, soft leather and oak greet the nose before initial flavours of hazelnuts, plum pudding and dark chocolate take over upon the first sip. The whisky is thick and rich with an almost cream like viscosity, it’s a celebration on the tongue as the spices dance on for what seems an endless palate. The finish is just superb with a chewy, lip puckering numbing sensation that leaves the gums tingling.

Bottling Notes
Here’s another Rochfort expression laid to rest in a French oak Port cask with excellent pedigree. The cask dates back to 1988 and was used to mature red wine, until purchased by Chapel Hill in around 1999. The barrel then spent many years continuously used to mature Chapel Hill’s ‘The Devil’ 15yo Tawny, a rich and indulgent fortified wine.
It’s unfortunate to see the Rochfort Distillery has fallen on hard times, having to close their doors (hopefully not forever). No matter the controversy, they bottled some stunning whisky expressions that are becoming very much sort after since the closure.
