Here’s a beauty of a triple distilled, unpeated single-malt from the very much sort-after Mackey Distillery on the Shene Estate. Made from 100% premium Tasmanian malt barley and pristine highland water, this 4th release of Mackey whisky was laid to rest in a Tawny cask just like their rare 2nd release.

I call this my Half-time Whisky. A bit too much burn for after dinner, but smooth and sweet enough to wash down the dust from work day. It develops to an alluring longer finish, where the sweetness reminds me of red frogs and boiled lollies – in a good way. Then a dryness – didn’t see that coming. I’m half way a fan – I haven’t bought a season ticket yet…but more performance like this…then sign me up – we’re set for the big league.
