Description:
Originally sourced at Spring Vale Vineyard on Tasmania’s east coast, this 225L Chardonnay cask was cut down to a 100L format in 2017 and filled with Spring Bay spirit – earning the number Cask 101. The result was a buttery, fruit-forward and oaky dram reminiscent of a fine Chardonnay. But the journey was anything but smooth.
Owner and distiller Cam Brett comments;
“After losing 14 litres in the back of a Land Rover (yes, really) and accidentally pouring 50 bottles into a Sherry cask, this cask quickly earned its irreverent nickname: FU Squared”.
Despite the mishaps, or perhaps because of them – it became one of Cam and Suzy’s most beloved special cask releases.
Now reborn as Cask 413, this expression takes on new life at a bold 56%. This Rheban edition delivers a powerful yet refined cask strength experience, with the same distinctive elegance, stone fruit and oak depth that made the original so memorable. Cam poured us a few drams at the Sydney Whisky Show and it was one of the Aussie highlights of the entire event. Great stuff!
