Nose: Aromatics of fruit and smoke; orange rind, milk chocolate and distinctive mesquite smoke.
Palate: An abundance of fruit on the front palate of yellow peaches and orange before the intensity of the smoked malt passes through.
Finish: A drying finish, with a balanced sweetness thanks to the Apera (fortified wine) barrels.

Description
Sold out at the distillery, ‘Small Batch’ is Starward’s home for their one-off releases, where the distillery sourced special ingredients, unique barrels or are trialling something new. This expression is Starward’s second alternative malt project (following on from their first ‘Cherry Wood Smoked’ bottling), using specialty mesquite smoked barley, which has produced a distinguished, flavour forward single malt whisky.
The distillery comments:
Distinctive mesquite smoke aromas are balanced by citrus fruits on the nose. This whisky offers this and more on the palate, with abundant orchard fruit characters up front followed by the intensity of the smoke. Balancing the dry and sweetness, this is a Starward whisky not to miss.
