Sullivans Cove 11 Year Old Double Cask DC109 700ml 45%

Official tasting notes.
Nose: Brown sugar (pretty sure D’Angelo wrote a song about this… Or maybe that was about something else…?), intensely biscuitty. Gingernuts, pimento and nutmeg. Lamingtons, anise, light dusting of tea leaves, and a hint of potpourri. Glacé cherry (a deep confection fruit note), and a deeply caramelised grainy note like Nutri-Grain. Some sneaky tropical characters hiding in nooks (mango!). Strawberry jam, and a touch of blackberry.
Palate: Texture immediately sets the stage- it swells in the mouth. Stewed apple, vanilla, orange and poppy seed cake. Dusty malt and milk powder. Cocoa, like Mum put in her boiled chocolate cake. A lot of caramel and toffee, praline and sweet grains. After a few seconds a lovely peppery note: Long Pepper.

Finish: Very smooth in transition and mouthfeel. It’s all built around cocoa and peaches. There’s a citrus burst, a juicy hit. Weaving in and out all along are the Long Pepper note and an umami flavour, kind of like from Prosciutto.
