Official tasting notes.
NOSE: A billowy wave of ripe fruit: melons, blueberries and raspberry jam. Nonna’s coconut slice, cocoa, praline and hazelnut cream along with freshly ground aniseed and malt biscuits. All of our childhood Saturday afternoon custard tart treats rolled into one whisky.
PALATE: Soft texture with a very nice balancing effect from the broad, grippy tannins that only American oak can give. It’s a delicious world of tangerine. Coconut, pineapple, glacé ginger, watermelon and marshmallows along with those wonderful tiny bananas you find in the south of India and lovely cocoa malty arrowroot biscuit flavour throughout.
FINISH: Fabulous depth and breadth. Very smooth, with an excellent coating right across the palate. A big wave of tropical fruit flavours gets the mouth-watering, and then it moves gently into an earthy place: macadamias, curry leaf, cocoa and sweet tobacco. Dark strawberry jam brings the sugary element to hold it all together.
