Description
For this special Projects release, the distillery has taken their mature rye whiskey and rested the liquid for a further 6 months in three fortified casks – Apera, Chardonnay Tawny and Fortified Semillon – at the top of their Brunswick warehouse. Absorbing the full force of Melbourne’s summer, the fortified wine casks offer sweetness, richness and a lingering finish to the Gospel’s dry rye grain.

The Distillery comments;
“When it comes to cask selection it’s important for us to know the story of each cask before it arrives at their distillery. Whether it’s the forest where the oak is sourced or, in the case of our second fill barrels, the liquid that previously filled it. ………The fortified casks were delivered to us fresh and recoopered at the distillery by Master Distiller Ian Thorn.

Fortified Cask was purposefully released at 52% ABV to represent the spirits character and showcase how it interacted with the oak, as well as provide a higher viscosity and lingering flavour”
