Description:
Here’s one super rare Remnant that was released exclusively for the 2023 Sydney Whisky Fair at the Oak Barrel in Sydney. Coming it at a barnstorming 67.2% alc and aged for 12 years, it’s the oldest Remnant release to date and the highest ABV expression the company has ever bottled. With only a limited number of bottles available, we’re grateful for Josh and his team at the Oak Barrel for sending an allocation our way for our loyal supporters as well.
The Oak Barrel comments;
“Remnant will often adorn their premium releases with an illustration of an animal on the label; such as a platypus, cow or owl. So how did we land on the Drop Bear for this release? Well, despite this whisky’s massive abv of 67.2%, it is ridiculously easy drinking (several industry veterans who tasted a sample it in a blind tasting guessed 48%-54% abv). So, much like the humble Drop Bear, this whisky lures you in with its friendly and approachable appearance, but packs one helluva wallop”
Limited to 1 per Customer.
The Remnant Whisky company was formed in January 2020 by Peter Bignell (Belgrove Distillery), his son Dane, and their associates. Together, they bought nearly 300 full barrels of Nant whisky from investors stung by the failed buy-back scheme under the previous owner of Nant, and put together a rescue deal to purchase the barrels, setting out to blend and bottle whisky that almost never saw the light of day.
