Description:
Meet the newest star in Remnant’s arsenal of whiskies, ‘The Golden Fleece’. We prefer to call it ‘The Holy Grail’ because the team have achieved the (almost) impossible in producing an age-statement Tasmanian whisky for under $100 that may just change the Australian whisky landscape moving forward. Originally distilled at Nant distillery, the expression is a marriage of 14 x Apera and Bourbon casks with the youngest whisky weighing in at 9-years-old. Affordable and delicious, The Remnant Whisky Company have definitely hit pay dirt with this unique release.
The Remnant team comments;
“We are a little bit tired of seeing Tasmanian single malts at a price most can’t afford going into collectors’ cupboards or onto top shelves most can’t reach. With stormy economic times brewing we thought we would shine a little golden light into the darkness. The Golden Fleece will retail at $99 for a 500ml bottle and will stir memories of “The Scoundrel” with a nod to “Fly by Night”.
About the Remnant Whisky Company;
The Remnant Whisky company was formed in January 2020 by Peter Bignell (Belgrove Distillery), his son Dane, and their associates. Together, they bought nearly 300 full barrels of Nant whisky from investors stung by the failed buy-back scheme under the previous owner of Nant, and put together a rescue deal to purchase the barrels, setting out to blend and bottle whisky that almost never saw the light of day.
John Atkins –
Let’s hope this is more than a one-off opportunity for the future of Australian Whisky. Seriously good quality at a great price. As the saying goes, “on the shoulders of giants”, the Australian Whisky industry is coming of age. This is as good as most drops twice the price. Simple as that.
