Description:
The Remnant Whisky company was formed in January 2020 by Peter Bignell (Belgrove Distillery), his son Dane, and their associates. Together, they bought nearly 300 full barrels of Nant whisky from investors stung by the failed buy-back scheme under the previous owner of Nant, and put together a rescue deal to purchase the barrels, setting out to blend and bottle whisky that almost never saw the light of day.
This collector’s release of ‘The Scoundrel’ came to be as the team found some excess stock of the delicious whisky, so instead of bottling them at 500ml like the original Scoundrel, they decided to bottle the juice at 700ml which makes us really happy!! It’s marriage of French and American oak coming in at an easy-drinking 44% ABV, the whisky is a showcase of Tasmanian flavour and what can be achieved when cooler heads prevail in the midst of a controversial stain on the Australian whisky industry.
