Port Royal is Waubs Harbour Distillery’s interpretation of a classic cigar malt – bold, rich, and unapologetically decadent. Crafted on Tasmania’s spectacular east coast in Bicheno, this limited release Australian single malt whisky embodies everything that makes Waubs Harbour one of the most exciting craft distilleries in the country.

What is a Cigar Malt?
Traditionally, a cigar malt is a robust, fortified cask-matured spirit designed to stand up to the bold flavours of a fine cigar. Port Royal delivers exactly that! With the added complexity of Tasmanian maritime character that no mainland distillery can replicate.

Cask Maturation: Ex-Apera Sherry & 70-Year-Old Tawny Port
Port Royal uses an extraordinary two-stage maturation process. The whisky began in ex-Apera casks. This laid down a lush foundation of sweet fruits, butter, and cream. It was then transferred to some of the rarest finishing casks Waubs Harbour has ever activated.
The finish used 70-year-old Tawny Port casks from the iconic Liebichwein Winery in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. These are casks of remarkable age and provenance. They impart enormous richness with waves of sultana, musk, and warm nutmeg, flavours only decades of wine absorption can deliver.
The result is a layered, complex Tasmanian single malt whisky. It carries the unmistakable DNA of both the Apera and Port cask regimes with every bottle unified by the salty, briny maritime character of Bicheno.
