Tasting notes:
NOSE: Extraordinary and different. A sweet bouquet of strawberry, cherry blossoms and manuka honey envelope the senses with hints of oak and spotted spice all wrapped in an abundance of alcohol vapor and Grandfather port.
PALATE: A peculiar texture.Very alcoholic up front which is expected from a cask strength but after a few drops of water, the whisky came alive. Young citrus fruits, orange peel and rose petals after the rain but then a curious bitterness emerges, grape fruit and sour apple. So much going on here, there’s a certain complexity that belies its youth. Intriguing!
FINISH: Long and spicy yet sweet and sour. Grapefruit skin and honey slowly fade making way for oak and pepper. Will have to visit this pour again as it’s left me quite perplexed. Not sure if I love it or loath it. – The beauty of whisky. ????
