Description:
The first release that started the Kanosuke juggernaut.
Collectors were chomping at the bit to add Kanosuke’s inaugural release to their personal portfolios and we only have a handful of bottles to sell. Distilled using unpeated malt in 2017 (the first year of production) and 2018, the whisky was laid to rest in a combination of re-charred American white oak barrels and ex- Kozuru barrels (a barrel-aged sochu developed by the company in the late ’50s). The whisky was then married together to create quite the masterpiece, that’s described as a complex, soft and fruity malt with balanced oak and beautiful spice.
Interesting fact
In September 2021 it was announced that Distill Ventures, part of the drink’s giant, Diageo, had joined the project as a 50:50 minority investor. This move saw Kanosuke distillery join the likes of Denmark’s Stauning and Australia’s Starward distillery in the Distill Ventures portfolio of whisky brands.
