The ultimate bucket list whisky has been finally released in Australia and we’re certainly proud to have this one of a kind 18-year-old Yamazaki Mizunara cask available in our store. This extremely limited release is expected to sell out immediately so be fast with this one as pre-sales have already begun in Japan selling for prices up to $10000AU a bottle (crazy times we’re living in).
The name “Mizunara” has evolved from the Japanese words “Mizu” meaning water and “nara” meaning oak. Mizunara is found in only a few parts of Japan and is quite capricious with the wood been both hard and permeable making it difficult to shape and hold liquid meaning it’s susceptible to leaks. Therefore, only the finest barrel makers at the top of their game are employed by the House of Suntory who work their magic in producing these amazing Mizunara Casks. Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo selected whiskies aged in Mizunara of varying ages from at least 18 years with a small portion of the blend exceeding 50 years of maturation.

Presented in a beautiful, heavy wooden box crafted from recycled Suntory casks, this special offering has the potential to be a real investment grade whisky that should appreciate nicely over time.

NOSE: A rich and elegant fragrance, aloe wood, cinnamon
PALATE: A condensed sweetness, silky texture, dry fruits, coconut, orange marmalade
FINISH: A distinctive spiciness lingers with Japanese incense, aloe wood, cinnamon and tartness.
