Description
A rich and fruity PX sherry finished Craigellachie 13-year-old single cask that was distilled in 2007 and bottled by the talented Alistair Walker at the Infrequent Flyers Independent Bottler. We found the whisky to have beautiful balance of spirit and wood with savoury notes and nice helping of spice and dark fruits. This sherry puncheon produced 654 bottles at a cask strength of 58.3%. Like all Infrequent Flyers expressions, this whisky is bottled in its most authentic form – un-chill filtered with natural colour.
Limited stock has been allocated for the Australian market.
About Infrequent Flyers
The ‘Infrequent Flyers’ range is a series of single cask bottlings of Scotch whiskies brought to us by Alistair Walker, of Deanston, Tobermory, BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh fame. The expressions are predominantly single malts, though now and again Alistair does release a single grain. The brand name ‘Infrequent Flyers’ refers to the nature of many of the casks that are bottled – often whiskies from lesser-known distilleries that are of excellent quality, but have never been widely or consistently available.
About Craigellachie Distillery
Build in 1891, the distillery is located in the heart of Speyside with the name ‘Craigellachie’ meaning ‘rocky hill’ as it stands alone on a cliff that overlooks the Spey across from The Macallan distillery. Dewar’s have owned the distillery since Bacardi Martini acquired the company from Diageo in 1998 and their maturation houses are based off-site with the new-make spirit transported from Craigellachie to Dewar’s Glasgow warehousing facilities. The distillery currently has three expressions available, a 13yo, 17yo and 21yo with the remainder of their spirit used in Dewar’s blended whisky and purchased by independent bottlers.
