Official tasting notes
“It’s a lovely expression of Bowmore, one that balances gentle, dry and mineral refill sherry influences, with coastal freshness, crisp peat smoke and classic Bowmore fruit characteristics”.

Description
To celebrate the 50th edition of Whisky Sponge, the team wanted to bottle something rather tasty and a tad special and this peated, refill sherry matured Bowmore seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Technically it was distilled in 2003, and filled into a refill sherry butt, however it spent some time out of wood before being put back into another refill sherry butt. Hence the 17-year-old age statement.
Whisky Sponge comments:
“We chose to bottle this with slight reduction at 53% as we felt this magnified the more exotic and green fruity touches in the distillate. Here’s to the next 50 Sponges! And to you, our loyal minions/customers/foot-soldiers/pals/chums/followers/legions”
