Description
Barrel & Batch are back with their second Bruichladdich, Micro Provenance single cask bottling and once again, it’s a unique expression and a welcome addition to the Australian whisky landscape. Distilled using concerto barley, this is one killer whisky that will satiate those of you with a ‘sweet tooth’ (guilty as charged). The whisky was matured for 10 syrupy years in a rare Jurancon, 2nd fill cask from the south-west of France.
The spirit to cask synergy of this beauty is perfectly balanced allowing the true bones of Laddie’s new-make to shine through amongst the delectable sweetness imparted by the wood. Distilled on the 27th of June 2012, the whisky was bottled at 63.6% ABV in January 2023 with a yield of only 270 bottles for the Australian Market only.
Barrel & Batch comment:
“This particular single cask underwent a delightful aging process in a Jurancon 2nd fill cask, originating from the renowned wine-producing region situated in the southwest of France. Recognised for its production of delectable sweet white wines, the Jurançon wine region boasts a remarkable blend of Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grape varieties. These wines are celebrated for their rich complexity, often revealing hints of honey, apricot, citrus, and tropical fruits. The unique microclimate, characterised by warm, sunny days and cool nights, contributes to the distinctive flavours and the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity found in Jurançon wines.”
