Our Tasting Notes
Wow – No need to shove your nose in the glass, a gentle nosing will do – the aromas hit the air around you almost immediately. Sweet smoke cuts through layers of sugar plums, candied blueberries, panned butter, lemonade and Greek coffee with a little pepper, and sun-dried yard grass. The palate comes in gentle waves of liquorice, cigar box flavour, old leather and barn hay leading to a smoked filled finale bringing back coffee and dark fruits from the nose.
Conclusion – One fat and tasty dram with aromas that easily fill a small room once poured.

Bottling Notes
Octomore Event Horizon was exclusively released at Bruichladdich as part of the distillery’s Islay festival on the 24th of May 2019. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and was laid to rest for 12 glorious years in the finest ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximinez butts from Fernando de Castilla in Spain, making it the oldest Octomore to date. Only four of these sherry casks were hand selected and combined to create a whisky of astounding rarity and decadence yielding 2,000 bottles, that were only made available to purchase at the distillery.
With much of the industry resorting to the ‘seasoning’ of casks, Bruichladdich’s refusal to use this inferior quality wood for the sake of a name, makes this sherry-influenced Event Horizon incredibly rare.
This expression comes from a prominent Australian whisky collection and we only have the one bottle to sell.
