Bottling Notes

A 2009 vintage, single estate, matured in American Oak, unpeated Single Malt Whisky from Bruichladdich made with 100% organically grown Scottish Barley. The entire process from barley to bottle has been organically certified by the Biodynamic Association so the way we see it, we can drink as much of this whisky as we like because it’s good for you! 😉

With beautiful floral and citrus notes, this is one daytime whisky that can be enjoyed in Australia under our glorious winter sun.

Just as our stillmen refuse to abandon the traditional crafts of distillation in favour of automation or industrialization, so does farmer William Rose reject the use of herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Crop rotation is key. Our organic barley from Mid Coull farms must take it its turn in a seven-year cycle that also produces grass for organic cattle and sheep, oats, beans, carrots and a megawatt of green electricity. Well nourished, well balanced soil produces healthy, strong plants which are generally cultivated for flavour not for yield. Working with Farmer Rose of Mid Coull farms since 2003, Bruichladdich has experienced both highs and lows, as one year 40% of total needs were supplied from his organic farm, in the next however the entire crop failed.
Respecting the land, the soil and the climate nourishes a genuine and thorough understanding of terroir and the results are pure Bruichladdich. Rich, complex and a fascinating expression of provenance, we can sense, feel and taste the results in the glass. Once again, land and dram united.
